Mock Driving Test
How do you know you're ready for the DSA practical driving test?
The DSA suggest that the best way to pass a driving test is to take professional driving instruction. If you are already taking driving lessons with Karen's School of Motoring you'll know how this is helping and by reviewing your progress card, others will see how you are being taught the syllabus in a structured way.
The DSA also recommends it takes the average person around 45 hours of professional instruction plus a further 20 hours of private practice.
Although a set number of hours will vary from person to person and the quality of driving instruction will differ, it's still not a guarantee that you will be ready to pass a driving test.
So that's why we offer a 'Mock Driving Test' to complete the preparation process.
Mock test
Pupils have said that the 'Mock Test' experience was of benefit in preparing them for their practical by highlighting weaknesses and by making them aware of and helping them deal with the stress involved. It's worth reading the views of some of our previous successful pupil's about their driving plan.
Indeed some pupils have even begun requesting 2nd mocks in preparation for their practical.
From Karen's perspective the mock test is now an essential part of preparing pupils for test, as it confirms to the pupil and instructor the test readiness of the student.
Benefits include;
1. Promotes pupil confidence by demonstrating that they can cope.
2. Assists in setting up a training plan on the run up to test.
3. Gives a second opinion on pupil's ability.
4. Gets pupils out of their comfort zone with their instructor.
5. Identifies hot spots on test routes.
6. Backs up progress card markings.
7. Provides a reality check on just how difficult the UK driving test is.
8. Pupil becomes familiar with DL25 and assessment process/criteria.
9. Justifies test refusals and provide evidence of the reasons.
10. Provides evidence for test postponements, overcomes objections
In short the mock is an absolutely vital part of the whole driver training process
Your instructor will arrange the mock test nearer to booking the real test as this will assure that you are completely ready and not trying to cram lessons into a limited time before test time which may result in the disappointment of cancelling or postponing the test.
It will be conducted in a very similar way to the DSA practical test, with regards to assessment, conduct and importantly with someone independent of your normal lessons.
